The 2014 Pinot Noir Renegade Ridge Estate was aged for nine months in 50% new French oak sourced from several cooperages. It has an intense bouquet with blackberry, hickory and crushed violet scents that needs a little more delineation. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry with macerated red cherries, boysenberry jam and fresh fig. There is a slight graininess to the texture, moderate weight in the mouth with a dash of spice towards the finish. Not bad, although when compared to the superb Whole Cluster Cuvée, this is no match.
