My favorite of the portfolio is the 2007 Pinot Noir Renegade Ridge, sourced from a 12-acre, biodynamically farmed vineyard. It offers up a complex aromatic array of smoke, spice box, rose petals, raspberry, and cherry. Ripe, sweet, and layered on the palate (unusual in this vintage), the wine has enough ripe tannin to evolve for 2-3 years as well as excellent concentration and length. Drink it from 2011 to 2019.
Archery Summit is best known for its vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs. However, the winery produces a small quantity of one of the finest Pinot Gris’ of the Willamette. Anna Matzinger, Archery Summit’s winemaker, describes her 2007s as “nervy and vivacious”, a fair characterization. Valley.
