This well-known Gigondas estate was acquired by importer Kermit Lynch and Vieux-Telegraphe's Daniel Brunier a year ago. They did not control the viticulture in 1998, which may explain the 1998 Gigondas's straightforward performance. It possesses a medium ruby color in addition to spice, sour cherries, and garrigue aromas. Medium-bodied, with average concentration, and dry, astringent tannin in the finish, it is a mid-weight, austere Gigondas that requires consumption over the next 2-5 years.
