The 1990 Fay Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is an outstanding wine. It exhibits a rich, chocolatey, berry-scented nose intermingled with aromas of toasty new oak. Graceful, velvety-textured, soft and supple, this medium to full-bodied, rich, pure, admirably concentrated Cabernet reveals no hard edges. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
If you cannot find any Cask 23 in the marketplace, or more likely, if you cannot afford it, look for the Stags Leap Fay Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons.
Proprietor Warren Winiarski produces Cabernet Sauvignons of uncommon delicacy, complexity, and harmony. Although this property went into a slump from 1979-1983, there have been no misses since.
