The 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape is an outstanding wine in this excellent vintage. The color is a dark ruby/purple with a slight garnet hue at the edge. The knock-out nose offers up intense, jammy aromas of fruitcake, black cherries, prunes, smoke, minerals, and Asian spices. Full-bodied, with outstanding concentration, and a seductive, expansive, succulent mouthfeel, this wine, while accessible, will benefit from another 2-3 years of cellaring, and will keep for 12-15. Very impressive! I have been keeping my eye on this estate as the wines, while always very good, appear to be improving to the point that they merit attention from all serious Rhone wine enthusiasts.
