The outstanding 1994 Barolo Bussia could have emerged from a far better vintage given its ripeness, purity, and harmonious personality. It boasts a deep ruby/garnet color, as well as a sweet, penetrating nose of black fruits, cherries, rose petals, and white truffles. The wine is almost sweet because of its high glycerin level and ripe tannin. Nicely-textured, rich, full-bodied, and gorgeous to drink, this unfiltered Barolo will offer hedonistic satisfaction for at least another 4-5 years.
This winery has been producing better wines, particularly since its acquisition by Tuscany's Antinori family. While the wines have become more fruit-driven, they have not lost any of their varietal or terroir characteristics.
