The Val di Suga 2012 Brunello di Montalcino delivers a classic interpretation of aged Sangiovese. The vintage was hot, but the wine does not feel overripe or too soft. Instead, it offers firm lines with a solid core of freshness and firmness at the back. These are two qualities that should help this wine evolve slowly and successfully over the years to come. Dark berry fruit is followed by underbrush, toasted almond, dried rosemary and pressed rose petal. Integrated tannins and an evident acidic vein give the wine power and length.
