Tenimenti Angelini’s 2003 Brunello di Montalcino is made in a big, powerful style. Although it presents excellent density in its ripe fruit, smoke, spices and sweet toasted oak, I find it hard to get past the brawny, astringent tannins that dominate the wine’s balance. Today, this Brunello comes across as disjointed and lacking polish. Bottle age may help, but only to a limited extent. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015.
