The 1998 Reserva (75% Tempranillo and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits a perfume of toasty new oak, beef blood, roasted meats, black cherry liqueur, and licorice. Full-bodied, exotic, and exuberant, it is a total turn-on. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years.
This winery’s less expensive bottlings have consistently made it into my value reports. I’m not sure their more expensive cuvees are that much better, although they are certainly top-flight.
