The 1993s of Luigi Scavino may even be more impressive than the dazzling 1989s and 1990s he produced. The 1993 Barolo is a terrific example of the vintage. It is elegant, with sweet tannin, a well-delineated personality, and an up-front, beautifully fragrant, surprisingly evolved set of aromatics. The wine possesses tremendous fruit and depth, gobs of ripe cherries, peach-like fruit, full body, outstanding purity, and a long, opulently-textured, full-bodied finish. Drink it over the next decade.
