The 2007 Pinot Noir Arcus Vineyard is sourced from a 40-acre parcel, the winery’s largest with some vines dating back to 1973. Medium ruby-colored with a fragrant perfume of spice box, cedar, and red fruits, the wine reveals some tannin upon entry to the palate backed up by a solid core of savory red fruit. The fruit is sweet and ripe and the wine’s balance is precise suggesting that another 2-3 years of bottle aging will prove beneficial.
Archery Summit is best known for its vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs. However, the winery produces a small quantity of one of the finest Pinot Gris’ of the Willamette. Anna Matzinger, Archery Summit’s winemaker, describes her 2007s as “nervy and vivacious”, a fair characterization. Valley.
