The 2011 Saint Joseph Terres d’Arce, tasted out of bottle, is both deeper and richer, with palate staining levels of plum, cassis, bacon fat, pepper and leather emerging from the glass. A blend of 100% Syrah that spent 12 months in 50% new French oak, it is a full-bodied, silky, polished Saint Joseph that possesses excellent purity of fruit, good acidity and fine tannin. Enjoy it over the coming 10-12 years.
I had a fantastic visit at this family owned estate. Covering over 80 acres in Saint Joseph, Cornas and Crozes Hermitage, they release a number of cuvees from each appellation, all of which are of high quality and worth seeking out. In addition, prices remain more than reasonable.
