Now a single-vineyard wine (starting with this vintage), the 2015 La Basseta is 80% Garnacha and the rest Syrah planted in 2000 on slate soils in the place that names the wine. They had to sort the grapes to avoid the excess heat and ripeness, given the high temperatures and drought of the year. It fermented in concrete vats with selected yeast and matured for 16 months in oak barrels, used ones for Garnacha and new for Syrah, followed by a further six months in foudres once the two wines were blended. There is good freshness, and the fruit shows a combination of red and black berries, nice balance and good freshness. 4,798 bottles were filled in December 2017.

This expressive red delivers cherry and berry flavors, backed by cola, spice and dried herb notes, with a generous texture supported by firm tannins and balsamic acidity.
