Sauzet's 1978 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet is showing brilliantly, unfurling in the glass with a lovely bouquet of delicately buttered yellow orchard fruit, beeswax, pastry cream, frangipane and mocha, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping palate that's crisp but fleshy, with superb concentration, lively acids and chewy extract, concluding with a long and expansive finish. This is a superb wine from Sauzet's glory days, and it's still in the prime of life.
