The 2010 Mercurey Vieilles Vignes is tightly wound on the nose and demands coaxing, offering woodland and wild red berry aromas but staying tight-lipped. The palate is medium-bodied with pretty, mineral-rich tart red cherry fruit with plenty of animation and vigor toward the persistency finish. This is very fine – delicious! Drink now-2019.
Francois Raquillet is one of my favorite producers in the Cote Chalonnaise, and I will be publishing more notes in the next issue.
