The 2009 Coma Vella, a blend of different strains of Garnacha with 30% Cari?ena and 10% Syrah matured in 225-, 1,500- and 3,000-liter oak barrels and vats for some 12 months. It has a serious palate, showing admirable restraint for a warm vintage like 2009, mixing plums and flowers with some earthy tones. The palate is juicy and ripe, slightly dusty and rustic. It is very Priorat and has good balance and enough acidity. This should evolve in bottle since it has the stuffing and balance to do so. 41,398 bottles produced.

(40% garnacha peluda, 25% garnacha, 20% carinena and 15% syrah): Deep ruby. Aromas of dried cherry, cassis, violet and peppery spices, with a bright mineral quality adding lift and focus. Ripe and broad on entry, then fresh and lively in the mid-palate, offering intense dark fruit flavors complicated by white pepper and a touch of candied flowers. Finishes smooth, sweet and very long, with sneaky tannins and a touch of smokiness.
