The limited production (200 cases) cuvee of 1999 Pinot Noir Precious Mountain comes from a young vineyard planted at an elevation of 1,800 feet. It possesses a tart, high acid, provocative bouquet of berry fruit, raspberries, cola, minerals, and flowers. Although tartness compresses the wine's texture, it is loaded, rich, and pure. The aromas are elusive, with cinnamon, clove and orange peel hints. There is an oaky element to the lighter-style strawberry fruit, and the finish is spicy, yielding heat at first before performing a smoother fade. Very pretty and not terribly big-boned or extracted.——W.E.(10/1/2002)—— 89
