The 1957 Vosne-Romanée Village was, to be frank, past its best on the nose, whiffed a little of cheese, or smelly socks. The palate is medium-bodied with a dry, rather shallow body and is bitter towards the finish that attenuates sharply. That said, it does seem to gain some harmony with 15-20 minutes in bottle. Not undrinkable, it must be said, but there are better wines from the domaine from this period. Tasted October 2016.
