The 2008 Chianti Rufina Riserva flows with expressive dark cherries, menthol, spices and minerals, all of which come together in an attractive, mid-weight style. Dark balsamic nuances are nicely layered into the finish. It would be nice to see the estate’s other wines at a similar level. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. I Veroni remains a work in progress. It is too soon to see the influence of agronomist/oenologist Andrea Paoletti, who arrived in 2009, but hopefully he will be the catalyst that will propel this estate to a new level.
