Contratto’s 2005 Barolo Cerequio is a pretty, mid-weight wine with attractive aromas of soy sauce, spices, cocoa, plums and menthol. The Cerequio offers good length and balance, even if some level of depth in the fruit is missing in this vintage. Today, the tannins come across as a bit rough around the edges, but a few years of bottle age should help to some extent. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2022.
