Palazzo’s 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is deep and earthy in its dark cherries, scorched earth, leather and spices. This classically-built wine possesses good structure and length in a powerful style. The aromatics aren’t clean, which adds to a sense of rusticity that is inescapable. With more attention to cooperage the estate’s wines might merit higher scores. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.
