The earthy, leathery, herbaceous, compost-scented, medium ruby-colored 1997 Brunello di Montalcino offers sweet strawberry and cherry fruit, medium body, and moderately high tannin for a wine of such weight and density. The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino is a pungent wine with oxidative aromas of spice box and caramel with dried figs, candied fruit and prunes at the back. The tannins have largely integrated into oblivion and so has the acidity. Drink: 2014-2016.
