The creamed spice-scented 2001 Batard-Montrachet displays lovely depth of fruit, concentration, and length. This rich, spiced pear-flavored wine is medium-bodied and flavorful. Some warmth (alcohol) and tangy characteristics in the finish prevented this impressive wine from earning an outstanding score. Anticipated maturity: now-2009.
