The 1993 Pinot Noir Ridgecrest Vineyard reveals a polished, bright ruby color, a reticent, closed set of aromatics, tart, medium-bodied, clean, strawberry and cherry fruit flavors with a whiff of chocolate and oak, and a crisp, acidic finish. My instincts suggest excellent raw materials were excessively acidified, giving the wine a narrow, compact personality. Hopefully, it will open, but a lighter touch with added acidity would have resulted in a more user-friendly, complex, and complete wine. Because of its high acidity, this wine should last for 5-7 years, but I am not sure it will ever fully blossom.
