Composed of equal parts Grenache and Syrah aged 100% in small barrels, the 2009 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau Les Esqueyrons, despite its barrel aging, is classic old style Rasteau. The wine reveals enormous body, lots of tannin and huge, chocolaty, black cherry marmalade, lavender and garrigue characteristics. Full-bodied, powerful, rich and stacked and packed with fruit and concentration, it should drink well for 12 or more years.
