The Luneau-Papin 2006 Muscadet de Sevre et Maine Sur Lie Clos des Alees smells of ripe peaches and apples, then coats the palate with fresh lime, chalk, and salt, but also with, for Muscadet, unusually ripe pit fruit concentration, underscored by rich nut oils and a surprisingly glossy, almost oily texture. All the while, there is no lack of the sur lie lees and CO2 that help give this genre its vivacity. The saline, savory, chalky grip of this wine’s finish is quite an experience, and can be enjoyed anytime over the next 2-3 years. Importer: Louis/Dressner Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 334-8191
