Even though it is crafted from relatively young vines (planted in 1984) the 1997 Chambolle-Musigny Les Beaux Bruns is consistently one of the finest wines produced at this estate. The 1997, harvested at a whopping 13.9% natural potential alcohol, displays a gorgeous nose of rose petals, violets, and blueberries. This satin-textured, medium to full-bodied, soft, and expansive wine is crammed with flavors reminiscent of blackberries, candied cherries, and bacon. It is fresh, bright, well-structured, refined, and possesses a finish that, like a peacock's tail, seemingly broadens and intensifies with time. This luscious and seductive offering should be drunk over the next 7 years. Importer: Martine's Wines, San Raphael, CA; tel. (415) 485-1800.
