A ripe, evolved and fully mature bottle, the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape (75% Grenache, 12% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and the rest Cinsault, Vaccarese and Counoise) offers lots of garrigue, fig, cured meats and hints of toasted nuts to go with a medium-bodied, classically styled feel on the palate. It’s best consumed over the coming couple of years.
