The estate’s 2003 Barolo Conca is another wine that looks to be relatively early maturing. It is open and accessible in its expression of leather, coffee beans, prunes, plums and spices with excellent length, although it comes across as a little tired. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2013.
Even though La Morra was the most penalized commune in 2003, this is a strong set of releases from brothers Enzo and Carlo Revello, whose small estate is located in the Annunziata sub-zone. Revello is among the growers who have started to move away from an exclusive use of small French oak barrels, and has added medium-size casks in recent years.
