One of the rare red wines from Meursault, the Meursault Caillerets Cuvees Selectionees is dark ruby-colored with a gorgeous nose of brambleberries, blackberries, and assorted dark fruits. This medium-to-full-bodied, masculine, structured, and fruit driven wine was vinified in 100% new oak, but reveals no wood or toast flavors. Plummy black raspberries, metals, and dark cherries are found in this delicious yet tannic offering. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2004+.

The qualitative resurgence at Domaine Latour-Giraud, described in my report on the 1996 White Burgundies (Issue #116), is dramatically evident with their red Burgundy offerings. This wine is impressive.
