Although this firm has a track record of annoying irregularity, it can be counted on to perennially turn out an outstanding Condrieu. No oak is utilized, and the result is a fresh, lively, full-bodied Condrieu that emphasizes this varietal's honeysuckle, peach, and apricot aromas and flavors.
Delas Freres produces a single-vineyard designated Condrieu in top years called Clos Boucher. Only 200 cases of this full-bodied, rich, fragrant wine are made. This dry wine is more unctuously-textured and richer than the regular cuvee. The 1994 possesses enough acidity to provide vibrancy and definition to the wine's large proportions. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
This wine was tasted in September, 1995, from bottle, unless otherwise noted. Prices quoted are based on the current exchange rate of five francs per dollar.
