The 2006 RESERVA is one of those ‘06s that tastes remarkably good, with up front and rather tasty fruit. Unlike many 2006s, it has fine structure, too. Its ability to develop in the glass and grip the palate is what makes it a cut above in this vintage. It will still come around quickly, but it seems to me to be more or less equal to the 2005, an impressive performance. It drank well on Day 2. Drink now-2018. This estate features winemaker Jorge Borges (who also owns his own winery, Wine & Soul of Pintas fame). Jorge and wife Sandra Tavares (Pintas and Lemos & Van Zeller) between them produced some of the best wines of the difficult 2006 vintage. Prices were not set at the time of publication. The Reserva had a suggested retail price of $59 for the 2005.Importer: Europvin, New York, N.Y.; tel. (212) 243-1236.
