The 2012 Barolo Gattera is a satisfying expression that shows good density and aromatic intensity throughout its performance. The bouquet is redolent of dark fruit, spice, tar and grilled herb. It offers a classic aromatic profile of the Nebbiolo grape. The mouthfeel, however, is dominated by firm and sharp tannins that will require more years of bottle aging before they begin to soften. Even then, I suspect the tannic signature of this Barolo will remain.

Leads off with balsamic notes of juniper, wild rosemary and eucalyptus, gathering cherry and tobacco details as the finish unfolds. A muscular version from La Morra, with dense tannins. Best from 2019 through 2033. 470 cases made.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barolo Select to Add
