One of the estate’s flagship offerings, the 2003 La Grola IGT, is a blend of 70% Corvina Veronese, 15% Rondinella, 10% Syrah, and 5% Sangiovese. It was aged for 16 months in both large oak ovals (called foudres in France) and smaller barriques. An explosively fruity bouquet reveals aromas of black cherries, currants, white chocolate, licorice, and a hint of toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied and spicy with silky, but noticeable tannin, and decent acidity, it is a modern-styled, authentic tasting offering from northeastern Italy. Consume it over the next 4-5 years.
