The 1994s are excellent to outstanding, exhibiting plenty of opulence, power, and sweet fruit. The most hedonistic and voluptuously-textured cuvee is the Cote Rotie Cote Blonde. The 1994 (from two parcels of vines, one 35 years of age and one 80 years of age) exhibits a knock-out, sweet, expansive, penetratingly fragrant nose of flowers, rich, ripe cassis fruit, cedar, and black-raspberries. The wine possesses an opulent texture, gorgeously unctuous, thick flavors, and a fabulous finish. It is a seductive Cote Rotie for drinking over the next 10-12 years. Interestingly, about 5% Viognier made it into the blend.
