The 1996 Barolo Rocche reveals a dried Provencal herb, peppery, smoky character reminiscent of some wines from southern France. The wine has plenty of tannin, and sweet black cherry fruit intermixed with charcoal scents. Medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic, and complex, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2012.A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300, Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel.
