Bottled in mid-August, the 2019 Marienburg GG is very concentrated and rich on the elegant, aromatic, almost oily and very dense (mirabelle) nose. Pure and enormously salty on the palate, this is full-bodied, rich, elegant and silky-textured Marienburg with well-dosed poser on the lean, crystalline, persistently salty and sustainable finish. From vines that are 30+ years old on gray slate. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.

From 36- to 41-year-old vines on gray slate in the main part of the VDP. Grosse Lage, the Pündericher 2018 Marienburg GG is pure and stony on the deep, fine, fresh and elegant yet rather ascetic, terroir-driven nose. Pure, elegant and finessed on the piquant and salty palate, this is a finely juicy yet elegant and tensioned Riesling with grip, salt and perfectly ripe, healthy fruit. The wine is pure even in this challenging warm and dry vintage. It is neither massive nor all too powerful and, if you so will, the classic of an extraordinary year. 13% alcohol. From 35- to 40-year-old vines on gray slate soils in the main part of the cru, the 2017 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling GG is quite intense and chalky on the pure, crunchy, lemon-scented nose. Ripe and lush on the palate, with deep fruit, good concentration and a long, intense, crunchy and salty finish but also quite a lot of power, this full-bodied wine needs a big glass and a lot of air to unfold its talents. Bottled in November 2018, tasted in March 2019.
