From 35- to 40-year-old vines on gray slate soils in the main part of the cru, the 2017 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling GG is quite intense and chalky on the pure, crunchy, lemon-scented nose. Ripe and lush on the palate, with deep fruit, good concentration and a long, intense, crunchy and salty finish but also quite a lot of power, this full-bodied wine needs a big glass and a lot of air to unfold its talents. Bottled in November 2018, tasted in March 2019.
