From straight below the Marienburg and from younger vines (30 to 35 years old) on stony gray slate, the 2016 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling GG was picked a week or two before the single-plot selections to keep the precision and the freshness. It is a silky, elegant and well-structured dry Riesling with good tannins and a pretty dry taste. Not very charming at this early stage, yet it is pure and well-structured and has a salty-piquant finish. Crushed stones in the aftertaste. Bottled at the end of September 2017; tasted February 2018.
