The von Hovel 2009 Oberemmeler Hutte Riesling Spatlese brims with ripe apple, honeydew, and cherry accented by crushed stone, chewy apple skin. Delicate to the point of near-weightlessness, it finishes refreshingly if with a bit of extraneous sweetness and slight lack of conviction. While delicious, I envision this lagging behind its Kabinett counterpart and being best enjoyed over the next 6-8 years.
