A slightly waxier, more honeyed style, with loads of peaches and tropical fruits, is the 2008 Roussanne/Viognier. This wine, aged partly in barrel and partly in tank, is an exuberant, seductive style of dry white to drink over the next year as well. Mas des Bressades has the same proprietor as Mas Carlot, with the husband and wife team of Cyril Mares and Nathalie Blanc running both estates, the husband concentrating on Mas des Bressades and the wife on Mas Carlot. The knockout 2007 Vin de Pays du Gard Roussanne/Viognier (50% of each) is a sleeper selection for shrewd consumers looking for bargains. Honeysuckle, pineapple, and other tropical fruit aromas are followed by a powerful yet elegant white displaying loads of flavor as well as a hint of minerality in the finish. This is a beauty to enjoy over the next year. With the same owners as Mas Carlot, this estate, run by Cyril Maras and his wife, Natalie Blanc, is one of the most respected in the Costieres de Nimes.
