The toasty spice-scented 2001 Roussanne - Viognier Vin de Pays du Gard, aged in 75% new oak and 25% second year barrels, is a 50-50 blend of its two varietals. The wine is crafted from 25 year old vines. It is medium-bodied, silky-textured, and reveals copious quantities of spicy apricots and peaches. This fruit-forward wine should be consumed over the next 2 years. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083.
