The 2020 Cherry Red comes from Zinfandel vines planted in 1977 and is blended with 18% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre and 2% Tempranillo. Deep ruby-purple, it features red and black cherries, mushrooms, tobacco leaves, aniseed, graphite and violet. The medium-bodied palate is juicy and approachable with loads of spicy fruit and a long, flavorful finish.

The 2019 Cherry Red, a blend of 64% Zinfandel, 29% Syrah and 7% Mourvèdre, has a very pretty perfume of dried violet and lavender, orange peel and earth, with savory undercurrents. The medium-bodied palate is bright, fresh and grainy, with loads of spicy layers on the long finish.

Blended of 70% Zinfandel, 22% Mourvèdre and 8% Syrah, the 2015 Cherry Red has a deep garnet-purple color and nose of blackberry pie, blueberry compote and dried mulberries, with hints of black pepper, dark chocolate and dried Provence herbs. Full-bodied, concentrated, and with lovely black berry and herbal layers, it has a chewy backbone and lovely freshness, finishing with great persistence.

Aptly named as it's loaded with notions of ripe cherries, the 2014 Cherry Red (65% Zinfandel, 15% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 3% Tannat and 2% Tempranillo) offers additional layers of strawberries, red plums, incense and spring flowers on both the nose and palate. Full-bodied, rich, supple and deliciously fruit-forward, with beautiful purity and elegance, drink this impeccably balanced beauty anytime over the coming 7-8 years.

Made from 67% Zinfandel, 17% Syrah and 16% Mourvedre, the 2012 Cherry Red has a Rhone-like perfume of black cherries, black licorice, smoked herbs and flowers. This flows to a pure, layered and sweetly fruited wine that has no hard edge, full-bodied richness and an up front, hedonistic style. It's already complex and ready to go, yet I'm sure it will continue to impress for another 5-7 years. I had a fantastic tasting with owner/winemaker Matt Trevisan, and to my palate, this estate is at the top of their game. The wines have incredible purity across the board, and while they pack serious flavor and depth, they never seem heavy, over-the-top or cumbersome in the least. You can't go wrong with any of these.
