Unwinding in the glass with aromas of green apple, white flowers, mint and bee pollen, the 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains is medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a textural attack and a long, saline finish. From a site characterized by white marls, it has performed well in this sunny vintage.

The 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains opens in the glass with notes of green orchard fruit, hazelnuts, clear honey, fresh bread and oyster shell. Medium to full-bodied, layered and muscular, with chalky grip and a saline finish, it has turned out very well.

The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains reveals notes of apples, nutmeg, peaches and honeycomb. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy, with more texture and concentration than the Vaillons that preceded it, while remaining quite taut and structured.

The 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains offers up a minty bouquet of lime zest, anise and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, glossy palate with good tension and cut. It's a chewy, concentrated Montmains that should develop well in bottle.

The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Montmains has a more expressive nose than the Vaillons: chalk, walnut and a touch of smoke with hints of fresh red cherry in the background that Beno?t remarked had been closed just a month earlier. The palate is crisp and fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity. It is lightly spiced with that signature nutty note surfacing on the finish. This has good potential although it does not convey the nervosité of the 2016 at this stage.
