Made from just over 50% Cabernet Sauvignon with 26% Merlot, 9% Syrah, 6% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec and 1% Petite Verdot, the 2020 Red Mountain Blend opens to a red-fruited, firm and juicy nose with elegant oak essences. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is succulent and mineral on the palate and gives way to a firm tannic edge that lingers with soft char notes on the finish. The wine rested for 18 months in 51% new oak barrels, 62% American and 38% French. Just over 67,000 bottles were produced.

Perhaps showing the best value of the range, the 2018 Red Mountain Blend is made up of 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. Aromas of sage, thyme and dusty blackberry express with notions of dark cherry and roasted plum. Medium-bodied and impeccably balanced, the mid-palate displays an open-knit frame with accessible fruits and elegant tannins, harmonizing with energetic acidity. The blend ends with a delightfully lingering mineral-laced finish. The wine rested for 18 months in a mix of roughly two-thirds American oak and one-third French oak before being bottled. 82,000+ bottles made.

A kitchen-sink blend of 38% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah, 8% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot and 1% each of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao and Souzao, the 2016 Red Mountain Blend is red-fruited with soft oak tones and an undercurrent of mild earthiness and minerality. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has soft, funky-tinged fruits and remains balanced across the mid-palate before showing gripping tannins across the lingering finish. This is open-knit and ready to drink. 6,050 were made.

The 2013 Red Mountain Blend is drinking well, wafting from the glass with notes of sweet soil, tobacco leaf, cocoa nib and red-black fruit, framed by nicely integrated American oak. Medium-bodied, rich and savory, it reveals a bright line of acidity and chewy tannins that are crying out for food.

Meaty flavors weave through the well-modulated currant, cherry and tar notes in this medium-weight, well-mannered red blend. The finish persists against impressive tannins, echoing all the flavors. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. Best after 2017. 9,650 cases made. –HS
