The 2010 Sola Fred is a blend of 90% Carinena and 10% Garnacha from 30-year-old vines, aged without oak. It has a fresh, undergrowth-tinged bouquet with some vegetal notes. The palate is medium-bodied with a high-toned entry of macerated dark cherries and spice, though I find some heat towards the finish rather distracting. Drink now-2014. Celler El Masroig is Monstant’s largest co-operative. It was founded in 1917 between grape and olive growers and consists of 300 members who tend 500 hectares of vineyard.
