The 2016 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly was matured in 15% new oak (228-liter barrels). It has a well-defined bouquet with apple blossom and light grass clipping scents, a fine sense of energy conveyed here. The palate is well balanced with good intensity, a fine bead of acidity, the oak nicely integrated with a citrus peel and orange pith finish that is a delight. This comes recommended.

The 2015 St Aubin 1er Cru en Remilly has a fragrant bouquet, demonstrating the mineralité, that cold stone scent that often defines this vineyard. The palate is crisp and fresh with plenty of green apple, fresh pear and saline notes, nicely focused with good concentration towards the persistent finish. This is an excellent en Remilly from the domaine.

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly has an attractive bouquet with hints of nougat and almond complementing the citrus fruit, perhaps with some new oak still to be absorbed. The palate is well balanced with orange zest and grapefruit on the entry. There is a keen line of acidity here that complements the concentration towards the finish. There is good volume to this Saint-Aubin and impressive persistence in the mouth, crowning what is a well-crafted, generous Saint-Aubin. Tasted May 2016.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Saint Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly from Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet has a more sophisticated nose than its peers, with fine mineralité and tension. The palate is medium-bodied with good ripeness, well-integrated oak and a satisfying, Meursault-like, nutty finish that lingers in the mouth. This is very fine, well crafted Saint Aubin that should age nicely over the next decade.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet's Saint Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly 2011 has a more New World inspired bouquet with hints of caramel infusing the citrus fruit – perhaps over-zealous use of oak here. The palate is balanced with grapefruit, touches of mango and quince, the finish demonstrating good substance but missing the complexity of its finest exponents. The saline aftertaste is quite endearing and lends it more personality that the more obvious aromatics would suggest.
