The 2009 Solpost is a blend of 50% Garnacha, 35% Carinena and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon from terraced, 28-year-old vines from Mas Sant Rafel. It is aged for 12 months in both American and French oak. It has a tightly knit, clay-imbued bouquet with muffled red berries, damp earth and undergrowth notes. The palate has a soft entry, but those firm tannins come to prominence towards its rather broody, introspective finish of blackberry, undergrowth and soy. The 2007 Solpost is a blend of 50% Garnacha, 35% Carinena and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for one year in French and American oak barrels. The nose is quite balsamic with notes of dill, coconut and vanilla over a core of ripe red fruit and some herbaceous aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with some chunky tannins and high acidity. Full-bodied on the palate with good depth of flavor, plenty of spice and succulence, this lengthy effort will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and deliver prime drinking from 2012 to 2021.
