The 2011 Cecily Viognier is raised in 30% new French barriques, the remainder second and third fill. It has a seductive bouquet of orange cordial, freshly opened tins of apricots and a tang of lemon peel. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition and crispness; the fruits carefully controlled and allow lovely hazelnut and smoke to dominate the finish. Compelling stuff! Drink now-2017. Winemaker Justin van Wyk is at the helm of Beau Constantia and oversees Constantia’s two finest Viogniers (the other from Eagle’s Nest.) This is a name to look out for in the future.Importer: there is presently no US representation, although I am reliably informed that the wines will be available in the near future, therefore I have quoted domestic prices.
