This is one of my top white wine value picks from Italy. The 2017 Sicilia Grillo Mozia Fondazione Whitaker represents a special project with grapes harvested on the tiny island of Mozia. Off the coast of Trapani in the south of Sicily, it is an open-air museum to the Mediterranean's ancient Phoenician population. This special wine offers elegantly grassy tones with sea salt and fragrant Sicilian lemon, star jasmine and honeysuckle. The wine's texture and fiber are more substantial than you might expect, and the 13.5% alcohol adds to that power. Some 40,000 bottles were made.
